County of Ventura Parks officials announced a new camping reservation system that will take effect Dec. 1, allowing bookings 180 days in advance and limiting stays to seven consecutive days during peak season. Reservation changes after July 1 now require cancellation and a $20 fee.

On July 17, Capt. Nicholas Hoffman took command of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division after Capt. Anthony Holmes retired following 38 years of service (honoring his leadership), and more than 1,100 guests watched the ceremony while Hoffman said he would adopt new technologies to keep the unit ready.
