- ➤ Ventura County needs 100 more volunteers for its point-in-time homeless count set for Jan. 28 because local groups rely on the data to plan services. Registration closes on Jan. 25. Ventura County Star

- ➤ Oxnard Adult School received a generous donation of personal hygiene products from the WeLoveU Foundation on Monday, Jan. 5. The items will support the school’s Health Center and help adult learners reach their academic and personal goals. Vida Newspaper
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials from the United Water Conservation District are hosting a tour of Lake Piru and the Freeman Diversion at UWCD headquarters in Oxnard on Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon to show how water is managed for local supplies (sign up by emailing [email protected]). - ➤ Since Jan. 1, grocery stores across Ventura County have enforced a plastic bag ban, and Oxnard shoppers now face paper bags that can tear easily + many residents adjust to the new rule to help the environment. Ventura County Star
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Oxnard Police Department held its eighth annual Pink Patch Campaign in 2025, partnering with local sponsors to raise $7,883 at pop-up fundraisers for breast cancer support. In total, the department has raised over $97,383 for the Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation. Vida Newspaper
