- ➤ Ventura County’s annual homeless count dropped for the third year, recording 1,755 individuals — a 28.1% decrease from 2023. Oxnard had the highest count at 532, and local investments in housing and support programs are credited with the decline. Ventura County Star
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On March 24, Oxnard College president Roberto Gonzalez and the vice president for business services went on leave, leaving all top leadership in a temporary state; two vice president posts have been vacant since January, and officials said the college is recruiting new leaders (details were not disclosed). REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Construction near Harbor Boulevard and West Fifth Street continues at the planned Avalon Homes housing project (a 56-unit market-rate development); permits were approved on March 5 and the City Council will hold a public hearing in May to review project details and affordable housing recommendations.
