- ➤ On May 15, Sable Offshore Corp resumed oil production from six wells on Platform Harmony at about 6000 barrels a day, a move announced near the 10-year anniversary of the Refugio spill that had contaminated Refugio State Beach & local waters. The company plans to start production from two more platforms in July & August while it faces legal challenges from the California Coastal Commission over halted pipeline repairs that led to an $18 million fine. - ➤ After graduating from UCSC, Matt Davidson opened Blue Tuna Spearfishing in Ventura in 2008—where he sells gear and holds monthly freediving classes. His shop at 2555 E. - ➤ Young nature photographers in Ventura County are turning to film photography revived by Dexter’s Camera — now at 1972 E. - ➤ Palomazo Music Festival will take place on June 14 at Heritage Square in Oxnard from 3 to 9 p.m. with five bands including Los Xiqueños and Maria Sanchez and the Midnight Groove; organizers expect 300 to 500 fans (with a $25 admission) and plan to offer diverse music (ranging from folk to funk) that connects the community.
