- ➤ Former Oxnard mayor and optometrist Dr. Tom Holden died early Monday, May 26th at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles when doctors discovered he had pancreatic cancer during recovery from back surgery. He served on the city council for 18 years and is survived by his wife, Dr. Lisa Knapp, and three sons — funeral services are pending. Vida Newspaper

- ➤ Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary officials say expected federal cuts to NOAA may soon limit local climate and diversity programs—raising concerns about managing extreme red tide events and marine wildlife.
