- ➤ Ventura County’s art community mourned performance artist John M. White who died April 29 at Malibou Lake—he was 87—and his passing follows the November 2024 loss of his wife, Sylvia White, a noted gallerist. Focus on the Masters launched a visual arts training program for Ventura and Oxnard teachers, Angela Liu of Westlake High School won the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for the 26th district, and Teatro de las Américas is accepting Spanish-language short film submissions for Nos Traen Cortitos 2025 with a Sept. 30 deadline.
