CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, July 28th at about 1:11 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS responded to a hit-and-run collision at Oxnard Boulevard and 7th Street where a 33-year-old Carpinteria resident was struck in a marked crosswalk and is in critical condition at Ventura County Medical Center—investigators are reviewing the case after the SUV fled the scene. - ➤ The Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula announced on Aug. 7 that it will cut its hours from four days a week to Sundays only in February—this change was revealed during the current exhibition 'In Focus: Mexican Indigenous Voices of Ventura County.' Ventura County Star
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On August 10, fire crews held the Canyon Fire to 5,370 acres and raised containment to 62% as they battled high temperatures and gusty winds. They used infrared mapping and bulldozers + focused on hotspots to prevent flare-ups. Ventura County Star
