- ➤ On Oct. 7, goats and sheep grazed in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve as part of a fuels reduction effort led by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority in partnership with Ventura and Los Angeles county fire departments. Their grazing cleared roughly one acre per day—helping to lower wildfire risks for nearby communities. Ventura County Star
