CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On November 17, Ventura County Ballet dancers previewed excerpts of this year’s 'The Nutcracker' for seniors at the Ventura Avenue Adult Center—audiences captured the performance on their phones. The production will be held on December 6 and 7 at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center with tickets ranging from $28 to $65 plus fees. Ventura County Star
- ➤ The Ventura County Reporter is running its annual photo contest that accepts original photos taken between Jan. 1 and Dec. 18 this year for a chance to be published in the Jan. 1 issue+ entries must be emailed by Dec. 19 with the photographer's name, address and phone number included. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Nov. 18, the city council narrowly approved a plan to let Genon change Ormond Beach Power Plant into a lithium battery storage facility. City Manager Nguyen said he will ask the state to let the plant stay open past its December 2026 closure (the plan includes a $45 million investment to fund a legal aid service for low-income residents).
