Good morning, Oxnard.
🏘️ Community
Salvation Army volunteer Adam Casillas, who grew up with food pantries and learned from Captains Torres, said community support is key in Ventura County.
He now serves on the advisory board—guiding local programs and inviting others to volunteer.
Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture is offering sustainably-grown silver-tipped fir trees in its 'Christmas On The Ranch' fundraiser to support no-cost agriculture education and healthy eating programs for Ventura and Santa Barbara youth.
The hand-harvested trees cost $100 each and range from 6 to 10 feet tall—available at local pickup sites in Saticoy, Ojai, Camarillo, and Santa Maria—while some trees will be donated to families in need.
🏥 Health
Ventura County Animal Services reported that 21 bats tested positive for rabies this year—an increase from six last year and four in 2023—and no human cases have been recorded; officials urge residents to never touch bats and to keep pets vaccinated.
